sisters and summertime.

my little sis is staying with us this summer,
and i couldn't be more thrilled.
she's pretty adorable and my best friend.
let's just say it's going to get pretty crazy up in here!

we started the summer off right by doing my favorite thing in town—
eating!
and at the best place i know where—
grimaldis!!

since her bf was in town, we took a double date across the bridge,
and enjoyed delicious food, great company, and ridiculously perfect weather.

oh, summer. love ya!

suiting up for the showdown.

raja bell.

not only was yesterday my birthday, but it was the best birthday ever! buttoned up was hired to suit up and style nba and mls players for showdown in chinatown, a charity soccer game put on by the steve nash foundation.

we were able to style some of my favorite nba players including steve nash, raja bell, tony parker,  marcin gortat, and leandro barbosa. let me also throw in that grant hill was also in attendance... a dream come true for natalie.

it was quite a day that i didn't want to end—my feet felt otherwise.
leandro barbosa
nash. a dream.

birthdays in the park.

following tradition, we gathered in the park for a
lovely birthday get-together to celebrate mine and klane's birthdays!

it was so great.

angie was thoughtful to put it together,
and todd even surprised me with a delicious amy's bread bday cake.
{and you know how i feel about those...}

i love all of my friends.
we are truly lucky to have such a great group of buds.

we love you all!

double the celebrations. double the fun.

today is quite the day for celebrating!
not only is it father's day
{love ya, pops}
but it's also my beautiful mom's birthday
{love you too, momsie}

my parent's are some of the coolest people you'll ever come across.
i'm pretty sure they're the reason i had friends in highschool.

although, todd and i are not with you two now,
we're doubling up on the celebrations in our home.

i'm so thankful for you two and for the example you continually
set for me and my family.

i only hope i'm as cool of a parent as you are!

the botanic gardens.

it was raining just about the whole time we were in the gardens,
but i swear it was more beautiful because of that.

this place was so beautiful!
i'd been longing to go for a while now, but hubs was never
too keen on the idea. thankfully, the numbers were in my favor
with landry and joan on my side!

oh how i've missed my 'lil indian place...

...but even more than that, i've missed my family!!

todd's mom and sister came to visit and the first place i had to take them was the
crazy indian restaurant in the east village.
it's about the size of a trailer and is covered in hundreds, nay, thousands of lights.
beach balls and disco lights are strung from the ceiling as
red, shimmery wrapping paper lines the walls.
real classy place, real classy!

many wonderful things.

so i'm almost done posting about italy, but not quite yet...
this is our last day in rome.
it was spent wondering and eating. yup, lots of eating.

an afternoon with the pope.

even though i'm not a catholic, it didn't matter...watching the pope give his weekly message to the spectator's in st. peter's square was one of the coolest experiences i had while in rome!

the square was covered with a sea of onlookers, some of which i'm sure traveled thousands of miles for these twenty precious minutes. when the pope first got up, he raised his arms high to the crowd, in which we roared with applause. he then spoke to us in latin, mixing it up with a little bit of singing.  and, might i add, he's got some killer pipes!

near the end is when he prayed for all the people. not only in latin, but in italian, english, german, polish, and a slew of other languages. every prayer was preceded by an applause {and occasional drum beating} from the people who spoke that language.

once he was done, it was fun to parade and dance around as crowds sang praises in their native tongue. if you're going to rome, you must attend this. it occurs every wednesday at noon.
